Clothing Updates, Round Two

Author: GS4-LUSUS
Date: 11/5/2008 2:11:53 PM
In response to various feedback and re-thinking in the weeks since the new clothing upgrades were released, the following new changes have been made:

1. Four Winds teleport items will no longer be counted as functional items.

2. Items that hold 2 pounds or less and 2 items or less (such as most bodices, shirts, dresses, pants) will no longer be counted as functional items. This applies to items that are worn on the back, shoulders, legs, torso, around the neck, attached to a belt, or over the front. Merchants who offer lightening and deepening services may also now be able to offer to make item pockets smaller (within reason) so that they would fall under this new rule.

3. A new 'under-armor' slot has been created for a single non-functional item. An example of an item in this slot would be a gambeson.

4. The number of items that can be worn over the legs, over the arms or over the front has been increased to 2. This allows for up to one functional item and one fluff item or two fluff items in these positions.

5. A number of other minor bugs have also been resolved.

As with the previous round of updates, if you encounter an item that you believe should be 'fluff' but is showing up as functional, please place an ASSIST so that a GM may review your request.

MIST HARBOR PRESENTS RAINDAY TREASURES

Author: GS4-THANDIWE
Date: 10/13/2008 1:19:57 PM

Wind and rain have kept many of the Mist Harbor merchants trapped in their homes and shops, the weather making it impossible to enjoy the normal summer and autumn fun that they would be partaking. As a result, each merchant has designed a variety of items that they are releasing to the public tonight! It is their joint hope that this display of their talents will encourage more adventurers to visit the Isle and buy their wares.

OOC: If you adjourn to the various Four Wind tents, Member's Only facilities, and Halls you will find that the transportation jewelry tables have been updated. Enjoy!

Kwithi Takes a Vacation

Author: GS4-THANDIWE

Kwithi Takes a Vacation

Healer Kwithi has hung up her apron for a short time to take a much needed vacation. She noted, upon packing, that the Monsoon season this year seemed to be longer than she remembered and that it was affecting her joints. She requests that everyone visiting Mist Harbor take the utmost of care with their health as she won?t be there to heal you while she is gone.

OOC Note: It appears that Kwithi has a bit of a bug in her. She decided, unbeknownst to us, that if you died near her she was going to send you out of Mist Harbor and into the streets of Ta?Vaalor. Until we can get this bugginess looked at, she?s going to be on hiatus. Please be careful when visiting Mist Harbor during this time.

Thank you!

Bureaucrat Demoted!

Author: GS4-VESMERA
Date: 6/15/2008 7:27:38 PM

After many years on the Isle of Four Winds, the bemused bureaucrat has come to realize that she's not very... diplomatic, nor performs administrative duties. Also, instead of appearing to be permanently bemused, you'll now recognize this resident by her disheveled clothing.

In other words, the bemused bureaucrat roaming FWI is no longer outwardly displaying her emotions. In the interest of showing and not telling, she'll now be known as 'a disheveled resident'.

It's also come to our attention that getting PREMIUM TITLES was somewhat of a mystery to some folks! Yes, that's right, the formerly bemused resident is the lady to ask! Simple ASK RESIDENT ABOUT TITLES and she'll be pleased to assist you, even if she is a bit loopy.

Premium Neighborhoods and Justice

Author: GS4-LIIA
Date: 6/12/2008 6:00:42 PM

Over the next few weeks, all IN TOWN premium neighborhoods that currently do not have constable attention will be set up so that the town's justice applies within their gates. This does not include neighborhoods outside of the towns' gates. This change will be completed by the end of this month, though some areas may see the change sooner than others.

Town Gurus will be posting in their individual town topics to announce when the changes in their towns are completed, but it is suggested that should you plan to commit crimes in a premium housing neighborhood, you use JUSTICE STATUS before you make your final decision.

Changes to New Player Drop Points

Author: GS4-BERNT
Date: 5/22/2008 4:04:27 PM

We have implemented some important changes in how starting towns for new players are determined. These changes were designed to address concerns that the current system (1) overloads Ta'Vaalor with new characters and (2) undermines role-play generally by putting new characters in places where it is implausible for them to start, based on their race. We're also hoping to give a boost to smaller communities, like River's Rest, by making them available to some new characters. The changes are:

1. Free trial characters will no longer be treated differently from other new (non-Premium) characters.

2. All new non-Premium characters will start in one of the three established "drop" towns: Wehnimer's Landing, Icemule Trace, and Ta'Vaalor. Although there is a degree of randomness in the placement, the starting-point likelihood is heavily influenced by the character's race. For example, no dark elf will start in Ta'Vaalor, while pure elves are very likely to start there.

3. New Premium and Platinum characters may choose to start not only in the three established drop towns, but also in Solhaven, River's Rest, Cysaegir, or Ta'Illistim. They are given a warning that these other four towns may not be as newbie-friendly as the Big 3.

Cheers,
GM Bernt

Please make note of the new addition to the calendar.

There will be an OOC meeting on the 23rd of this month to discuss the upcoming additions and changes we'll be adding to Premium and the Isle of Four Winds. Please also bring your ideas, as we'll be taking suggestions on what you would like to see as a part of Premium in the future.

Dateline 8/1/2007: PREMIUM HOUSING AUTHORITIES ROUSED

Author: GS4-NAOS
Date: 8/1/2007 5:51:01 PM

After a hard night of investigation, local housing authorities of various towns have been roused to repossess a number of disused properties owned by Four Winds members.

Due to some errant paperwork, housing officials had ceased their periodic verification of the Four Winds membership status of deed holders. This allowed the properties in question to remain in the possession of individuals who were no longer associated with the Four Winds or who have not been seen in the lands in some time.

After being notified of the mix-up, Four Winds housing officials sprang to action and quickly sorted out the situation with local housing authorities of the towns and cities who had agreed to provide exclusive property allotments for Four Winds members.

Four Winds members should find a large number of properties previously thought to be occupied to now be clearly marked as abandoned and available to be claimed.

Points, Flares, and Armor Accessories

Author: GS4-VARULV
Date: 7/13/2007 4:18:31 PM

The question has recently arisen as to whether armor accessories can be flared via premium points. The answer is that they can, and they will be treated, for purposes of determining cost, as +20 items. Adding flares to such accessories will thus be 1500 points (unless they have an enchant greater than +20, in which case the usual costs for adding flares apply).

PCALC has been updated to take this policy into account.

Isle of Four Winds Summer Celebration

Author: GS4-LOTHWYN
Date: 7/3/2007 3:43:03 PM

Dateline 7/3/2007: ISLE OF FOUR WINDS SUMMER CELEBRATION

The Isle of Four Winds has long been considered one of the mysteries of Elanthia: Where did it come from? Why is it that ships cannot find the isle no matter what sea they sail? What is the secret magic that allows some to travel there and back with ease?

While one may not uncover all the mysteries of the Isle of Four Winds, the Mist Harbor government is proud to announce a summer celebration.

Come join the fun and festivities on the Isle of Four Winds starting the 6th of July and ending on the 22nd. This is a free event for all premium subscribers. For more information, please visit http://www.play.net/gs4/news.asp?id=68.

Don't forget to snag your Isle of Four Winds Summer Celebration Desktop wallpapers here: http://www.play.net/feature/themes/.

4WI Teleporter changes

Author: GS4-KHALADON
Date: 6/23/2007 9:47:39 PM

Anyways, we know that sometimes you make changes to your account, adding Premium, other characters, etc., and sometimes, you remove Premium, or go on vacation or hiatus (boo!)...

Pesky though, when you leave on Mist Harbor, and you come back, you are kinda, like...stuck there unless someone helps you.

However, I rolled in some code updates this evening that if that happens, just TURN your item, and it will send you back to whence you came AND clean out your 4 winds bank account.

I also added some blocks for premium trial accounts for the upcoming festival for the Platinum promotion (this doesn't effect Platinum) so they don't work unless you have a paid premium account, cleaned up a few things, fixed some messaging snafus like someone appearing for no reason, and also Varluv's changes went in as well for his project.

This is probably the first of a bunch of annoucements in the upcoming weeks.

New options for backpacks, boots, helms, sacks, satchels, kilts, shields, armor, skirts, cloaks, rings, amulets, pants and robes have been added to the autoscripter. Further, the proprietor should recognize a few items as allowable for having an autoscript added that he might have ignored before.
